Fun & Creativity

Art

We understand that art is very important to young children.  Art gives children a way to let out their feelings and ideas.  Art lets children make choices.  Art is a time to allow children to express their ideas and experiments with materials.  Art focuses on helping children develop their creativity and enjoy the process of expressing their thoughts and feelings through art.

Music

We understand that music is an important part of the child care curriculum.  Young children love sounds.  Music activities and experiences help children practice important skills, including thinking, language, motor coordination and understanding emotions.  Music helps children learn new thinking skills.  When children sing, they practice pronouncing words and putting together sentences.  Music can also be soothing and comforting.  Music creates a wide range of benefits to children.

Movement

We understand that playing is the best way to strengthen children gross and fine motor skills.  Through play, children practice and perfect control and coordination of large body movements of hands and fingers.  Child care providers can support young children's motor development by planning play activities that provide children with regular opportunities to move their bodies.

Language

We use language to help children make many connections: understanding meaning, sharing feelings and needs, connecting with others, processing new information, solving problems and understanding society's expectations.  We enrich language by singing, reading, having conversations, writing, drawing, finger play, rhymes, poems, music, and story telling.

Mathematics

We use mathematics in play and daily activities every day.  Teaching young children how to match, classify/sort, and measuring things is an important part of developing early math skills because these skills help children identify and describe relationships between items.  Young children learn these skills in several ways such as matching, comparing, sorting, sets and measuring.

Outside Play

We understand that outdoor play supports infants and toddlers health, development and learning.  We provide good outdoor play spaces that provide safe and stimulating places to play and explore.  Outdoor play boost children's health and wellness, as well as supports their physical and mental well being.
